Two sets of hands exchange a wrapped gift across black and white spaces, with the words “What I receive, I carry forward.

What Passes Between

What I receive, I carry forward.

Insight

I am beginning to understand that receiving is not the opposite of giving. They are part of the same exchange.

What comes to me—kindness, wisdom, encouragement, experience—does not have to stop with me. I can receive it fully, allow it to become part of who I am, and carry something of it forward.

Perhaps generosity is not only about what I offer. It is also about being open to what passes between us, trusting that what I receive may someday become something I am able to give.

Reflection

What have you received that you are now ready to carry forward?
