Who I Was
Who I was brought me here.
She doesn’t have to take me back.
Insight
I am beginning to understand that growing does not require me to reject who I once was.
The person I was carried me through experiences, choices, fears, and understandings that brought me to where I am now. I can be grateful for her without asking her to determine who I must continue to be.
Sometimes the familiar has a powerful pull. Old ways of seeing myself can feel safer simply because I know them so well. But honoring my past is different from returning to it.
I am learning that I can hold who I was with compassion while allowing who I am becoming to move forward.
Reflection
What part of who you once were can you honor without allowing it to pull you back?
