Norma sits peacefully with her eyes closed inside a white circle surrounded by black, wearing a red shirt. The illustration reads, “The Space I Keep for Myself” and “I don't have to do anything to belong here.”

The Space I Keep For Myself

I don’t have to do anything to belong here.

Insight

I am learning that the space I keep for myself does not have to be earned through doing, giving, or accomplishing. I can simply inhabit it. The past remains part of me, but it does not have to define the life I am living now. I can care for others without losing myself in their needs, and I can rest without feeling that something has been left undone. There is enough room for all that I am, including the part of me that needs nothing more than to be here.

Reflection

Where in my life am I still trying to earn a place that is already mine?
